The ₹22,000 Tamil Nadu top-up does not apply in Puducherry.

Who Is Eligible?

• Domestic connection from the Electricity Department, Puducherry, in the house owner's name.
• Your own roof with shade-free space (about 80-100 sq ft per kW).
• Grid-connected system with a net meter. Off-grid systems are not covered.
• DCR panels (Indian-made cells) installed by a vendor registered on the PM Surya Ghar portal.
• No earlier rooftop solar subsidy on the same connection.

How to Apply in Puducherry

1. Register on the PM Surya Ghar portal (pmsuryaghar.gov.in) with your PED consumer number and the mobile number linked to your connection.
2. Apply for rooftop solar and choose a registered vendor.
3. Feasibility check by PED. The Electricity Department checks your connection and sanctioned load. The department also runs a Solar Rooftop Portal at electricity.py.gov.in for net metering applications.
4. Installation by your vendor, usually 1-3 days.
5. Inspection and net meter by PED under the JERC net metering regulations.
6. Subsidy credit to your bank account after commissioning.

5 Common Mistakes in Puducherry Applications

1. Bill in a late parent's name. Start the name transfer with the Electricity Department first; the subsidy follows the connection owner.
2. System bigger than the sanctioned load. Apply for a load increase before or with your solar application.
3. Choosing an unregistered installer. Only vendors on the PM Surya Ghar portal can install subsidy systems.
4. Non-DCR panels to save money. They cost you the entire subsidy; get the DCR certificate in writing.
5. Assuming the Tamil Nadu ₹22,000 top-up applies. It does not; ask your installer to confirm the current Puducherry top-up instead.
